The North Shore of Oahu is where our love for açaí bowls started. Specifically at a place called Sunrise Shack near Sunset Beach. I’m not an adventurous eater (well, I used to not be) so my first bowl was something called a “Monkey Bowl” which included banana, coconut cream, peanut butter, almond milk, dates, cinnamon, salt, and coconut oil in the blend (all things I knew I liked), then it was topped with gluten free granola, banana, peanut butter, coconut flakes, and cacao nibs. So not an açaí bowl, BUT it was my first smoothie bowl, and it was heaven on earth. I was hooked from that moment on and have literally eaten açaí bowls every day since our 2021 trip.

In this blog (as well as the vlog posted below), we’re going to be taking you to six different local açaí bowl places and rate them from best to 6th best, because they all were so good!

A few parameters we used when picking these bowls were:

  1. The base of the bowl was pretty much anything other than apple juice.
  2. You can add peanut or almond butter on top.
  3. That they used unsweetened açaí in blend.
  4. That they all are in the North Shore of Oahu.
